Poster - Sediment Transport Model with Linearized Free Surface Flow
Due to the impact of sediment erosion and deposition on river beds, sea beds and marine objects, simulation of flow and sediment transport is an important, but challenging task. Coupling between a two-phase free surface flow with sediment transport is required in order to accurately capture fluid shear stresses and sediment scouring effects. Numerical model for calculating sediment transport with sand bed deformation in free surface flows will be presented in this study. The current model is a modification of a two-phase free surface solver with sediment transport by Škurić et al. (2015). A two-phase flow method [2] is replaced by a linearized free surface flow model by Vukčević et al. (2017). The new sediment transport model will be compared to the original two-phase flow solver on the 140 degree channel case. The model will also be compared to the available experimental data on the channel flow case with cylindrical pier.
