HANDLING COMPLEX MESH MOTION IN THE SIMPLIFIED PADDLEWHEEL CFD SIMULATION
In the paper, we demonstrate results of the complex mesh motion implementation used to simulate numerically paddle wheel hydrodynamics. The main aim of the work was to get an instrument for the numerical simulations of the various wheel designs which have circling reference axis in the local coordinate system. The current approach is demonstrated using simple two-dimensional case of the wheel equipped with oscillating paddles. Potentially, described referenced mesh motion approach could be utilized in the rotor numerical models with individually controlled blades (helicopters or wind turbines).
