CONSISTENT SECOND-ORDER ACCURATE NON-ITERATIVE PISO ALGORITHM

It is proposed new non-iterative PISO algorithm which is second order accurate in time. Temporal accuracy of the original non-interative PISO algorithm proposed by R. I. Issa is not second order even if second order temporal discretization scheme is used to discretise momentum equation. This reduction of accuracy is consequence of application of the cell-face volume flow rate from the previous time step to discretise non-linear convection term in the momentum equation. We proposed remedy to this problem based on the second order temporal extrapolation of the cell-face volume flow rate from the two previous time steps. New non-iterative PISO algorithm shows second order temporal accuracy on the presented fixed and moving mesh test cases. It is important to emphasize that temporal consistency of the proposed numerical method is ensured by the consistent Rhie-Chow interpolation which is also presented in this work.
