Managing Multiple OpenFOAM installations with GNU Guix
This poster will demonstrate how to set up and use GNU Guix for managing OpenFOAM installations in a multi-version, multi-user environment. It is a common requirement to have more than one version of the OpenFOAM framework installed at any one time. Solvers and boundary conditions developed for one version may be needed at the same time as those developed for a different version. In addition, OpenFOAM is often used on multi-user systems, with individual users having different requirements for their own applications. Managing the software installations can become complicated. GNU Guix offers a way of simplifying this task, installing packages alongside the operating system and allowing users to set up their own individual profiles. The advantages of this approach will be demonstrated with a number of examples of use shown in the poster.
