Naval Hydro Pack Demonstration Session
During the 11th OpenFOAM® Workshop in Guimarães, Wikki Ltd will present a special session on CFD in Naval Hydrodynamics, Off-Shore and Wave Modelling with OpenFOAM® and the Naval Hydro Pack.
The Naval Hydro Pack extends the capabilities of foam-extend in naval hydrodynamics CFD applications, such as wave and current loading on fixed and floating ship hulls and off-shore structures, coastal wave dynamics and wave scour simulations.

As a part of the live demo, we will show a steady resistance simulation on a 600k cell mesh for a ship hull in 18 minutes on a laptop and a sea-keeping simulation for the KCS hull in head waves on 1M cells with 1 wave encounter period simulated in 4 minutes on a 64-core cluster.
Focus will be given to the presentation of validation and verification results, user testimonials and mesh generation issues for a range of naval hydrodynamics problems. The event includes the reports from:
- Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), 2-5 May 2016
- SHOPERA: 3rd Public Workshop 13-15th April 2016
- Tokyo 2015: A Workshop on CFD in Ship Hydrodynamics, 2-4 December 2015
- TULCS EU FP 7 Project: Tools for Ultra Large Container Ships In-house validation
and verification and examples of the use of FOAM naval hydrodynamics tools over a range of validation and design studies.
This demonstration session will take place on Wednesday, June 29th, from 16:30 to 18:30.
To register, please send an E-mail to events@wikki.co.uk.
