Submissions for oral presentations at the Workshop will be on the basis of extended (3 page) peer-reviewed abstracts. LaTeX and Word templates should be used to generate .pdf files for submission. The abstract keywords should include at least one of the following session titles;

Aerodynamics
Block Coupled Solvers
Civil Engineering
Complex Materials
Compressible Flows
Disperse Multiphase Flows
Fluid-Structure Interaction / Structural Analysis
Free Surface Flows
Fuel Cells
General CFD
Heat and Mass Transfer
Lagrangian Methods
Naval Hydrodynamics / Coastal / Offshore
Nuclear
Optimization and Control
Phase Change
Porous Media
Poster Presentation
Pre-Processing / Post-Processing / Meshing / User Environments
Reacting Flows
Sprays and Injection
Teaching Session
Turbomachinery
Turbulence Modelling

Submission is using the OpenConf software and hosting at https://www.openconf.org/ofw12/openconf.php. Note that you have to create a Submission entry (which can be edited before submission) which should include a shortened abstract, and upload the extended abstract as a PDF. The submissions will be peer reviewed based on the extended abstract; those which are turned down for oral presentation will be offered the option of a poster presentation.

Based on the peer review, selected contributors will also be invited to contribute full papers to a Special Issue in the journal “Computers & Fluids”. Criteria for selection are contributions that focus on (a) new methods/models (OpenFOAM being the framework) or (b) physical analysis (based on OpenFOAM simulations, with the usual validation level and new physical insights) or (c) pure validation of existing methods in OpenFOAM according the policy of Computers & Fluids for benchmark solutions.

We will also accept posters — submit a short abstract through the OpenConf portal to let us know what you wish to present – no need for the Extended Abstract as these will not be peer reviewed. Please select “Poster Presentation” as a topic area when submitting.

If you wish to help by presenting a teaching session, please submit a short abstract again through the OpenConf portal to let us know what you wish to present. Again, no need for the Extended Abstract.

  • Competitions

CAE Solutions has kindly sponsored the following competitions:

* Best Paper, Best Graduate Paper, Best Poster – these will be judged during the Workshop.

* #FoamyFriday – send in your OpenFOAM CFD visualisations to ofw12@openfoamworkshop.org any time from now until the Workshop. We will post all entries on Twitter, FaceBook and LinkedIn; vote for your favourites before (by “liking” them) or during the Workshop.

Update: submissions for oral presentation (and for the Special Issue) are now closed, and we are reviewing the Extended Abstracts. We are still accepting submissions for poster presentations (which are not reviewed); please submit these through the OpenConf portal.
