By plane: the city airport Cristoforo Colombo is located in Genoa Sestri Ponente and it is connected to the city center by bus. You can also fly to Rome (Rome’s two airports are Fiumicino – Leonard da Vinci airport and Ciampino airport) or Milan (Milan Linate and Milan Malpensa airports). Then you can get to Genoa by airplane, train, or by car. Milan is 147 km from Genoa and Rome is 401 km from Genoa.
By train: the railway lines are the most comfortable and effective way not only to reach the Ligurian city, but also to move around it: its railway branches cross the Genoese territory from West to the East. The city is serve by two main train station, Principe and Brignole. The trip takes approximately 5 hours from Rome and less than 2 hours from Milan.
By car: there are four highways that allow you to reach Genoa by car: A12, A10, A26 and A7. The trip takes approximately 5 hours from Rome and 2 hours from Milan.
Public Transportation in Genoa: Tickets are sold at newspaper kiosks, tobacconists, etc. You can also buy the tickets at the ticket offices of the public transportation service provider (Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti or AMT), there is one in front of Brignole Station. A single trip ticket costs 1.50 euros, and it allows to travel for 100 minutes on buses, elevators, boats, metro and urban area trains.
