Workshop Proceedings – Book of unedited abstracts

The proceedings of the 18th OpenFOAM Workshop will be available publicly online as a book of unedited abstracts.

OpenFOAM Journal

All presenters (full-length presentation and poster) at the Workshop are invited to submit full papers or technical notes to a special issue of the OpenFOAM Journal called “Selected Papers from the 18th OpenFOAM Workshop”. These papers will undergo the standard peer review process. There are no publication charges and all papers will be available to download free of charge.

 

Eligibility and Guidelines

Authors should be aware of the following:

  • Only authors (online and in person) who have presented at the 18th OpenFOAM Workshop can submit a paper to this special issue (no presentation, no paper).
  • The submitted paper should be based on the work presented at the Workshop, although the title needs not be the same.
  • The submitted paper can be a “Full Paper” or a shorter “Technical Note”, as described on the OpenFOAM Journal website.
  • Please follow the Author’s Guidelines when preparing the paper.
  • As per the OpenFOAM Journal approach, the submitted papers will undergo a double-blind review process, so please exclude the author names from the paper submitted for review.
  • Please submit your paper at https://journal.openfoam.com/index.php/ofj/about/submissions and select “18th OpenFOAM Workshop – 2023″ from the Section drop-down menu.

  • The extended abstract for initial review should be received no later than 30 December 2023.

Journal special issue: Meccanica. An International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics

The editors of Meccanica, An International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, have agreed to a special issue of selected conference proceedings. This journal has an impact factor of 2.538. Authors can choose between closed-access or open-access publication types. In the case of open access, authors are responsible for all publication fees. A review committee will select the papers, or authors will be directly invited.

 

Eligibility and Guidelines

Authors should be aware of the following:

  • Only authors (full-length presentation and poster, online and in person) who have presented at the 18th OpenFOAM Workshop can submit a paper to this special issue (no presentation, no paper).
  • The submitted paper should be based on the work presented at the Workshop, although the title needs not be the same.
  • We encourage authors to follow Meccanica submission guidelines.
  • We encourage authors to use the Springer Nature LaTeX template when preparing the submission.
  • The extended abstract should ideally not have more than 10-12 pages.
  • Based on the peer review of the extended abstract (using OpenFOAM journal template or Springer Nature Latex template), selected Authors will be invited to contribute full papers to the Special Issue “Selected Papers from the 18th OpenFOAM Workshop” in the journal “Meccanica.”

Conference proceedings. IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering

The refereed and accepted papers will be published as a gold open-access volume. The publication cost for each proceedings paper is 150 euros. The publication cost is not included in the workshop registration; authors are responsible for this publication fee.

 

Eligibility and Guidelines

Authors should be aware of the following:

  • All proceedings papers are published under the IOP Proceedings Licence.
  • We encourage authors to follow IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering guidelines for proceedings papers.
  • We encourage authors to use IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering templates for proceedings papers.
  • Only authors (full-length presentation and poster, online and in person) who have presented at the 18th OpenFOAM Workshop can submit a proceedings paper (no presentation, no paper).
  • The title of the submitted proceedings paper MUST be the same as the title of the oral or poster presentation.
  • The minimum number of pages of the proceedings paper is four (4).
  • The proceedings paper should not contain more than ten (10) pages. This is only a suggestion and not a rule.
  • For authors looking for full-length original articles, we advise them to submit their contribution to the OpenFOAM Journal or Meccanica‘s special issue.
  • We advise authors not to submit more than two proceedings papers. This includes papers that they have co-authored.
  • We encourage all authors to include a permanent link repository to share their results, cases, and source code.
  • All submitted papers will undergo a review process. Authors will only be asked to pay the publication fee if the proceedings paper is accepted.
  • The refereed and accepted papers will be published as a gold open-access volume. The publication cost for each proceedings paper is 150 euros for articles with more than 10 pages and 100 euros for articles with less than 10 pages. The publication cost is not included in the workshop registration; authors are responsible for this publication fee.
